How will you select the Quantum employees you want to recruit?
Gatestone will select Quantum employees based on the program or role for which they have been trained (1800-O-CANADA, CIS service assignments, Operations Support functions such as Supervisory Services, Reporting, Quality Analysts, Workforce Management, etc.) in combination with our needs and capacity on those programs or roles as well as tenure and suitability.
Gatestone has set up a dedicated page for all interested Quantum employees to apply through: https://www.gatestonebpo.com/quantumtransition. The deadline to apply in order to qualify for onboarding in our first wave of the ramp will be November 8th, 2020.
Will Quantum employees be given priority in Gatestone’s recruitment efforts?
All Quantum employees applying through the dedicated Quantum Transition link will be fast-tracked and given priority over all external candidates. While there will be standard Gatestone procedures to complete as part of the recruitment process, including but not limited to a reference check with Quantum, these processes will be minimal.
The deadline to apply in order to qualify for onboarding in our first wave of the ramp will be November 8th, 2020. If you have not been identified/selected to onboard with Gatestone for the first ramp-up wave, a later onboarding date may be offered.

How do I apply for a job with Gatestone?

Additionally, there you will find more information about our organization and a list of Frequently Asked Questions for this transition. These FAQs will be updated as required.
Gatestone will also be holding information session to allow Quantum employees to meet the management team and ask any additional questions that may not be covered in the FAQ. Please note that although you may use your ESDC-issued equipment to join these meetings, this should be done on your own time.

When will I be able to apply for a job with Gatestone?
As soon as you are ready. Please keep in mind that in order to be considered for our first wave of the ramp up, your application should be submitted no later than November 8th, 2020. You may apply after that date, however after November 8th, 2020, your application will only be considered for our second wave of hiring during the transition period or beyond.
If I receive an offer from Gatestone what will be my start date?
Your start date would depend on when your application is made. Applications received prior to November 8th, 2020 will be considered for our first wave of hiring in which case job offers would be extended as early as November 16th, 2020 for a start date of November 27th, 2020. We will additionally consider for which line of line of business you were trained on/have been working and what additional training you may need. Rest assured the goal would be to onboard you as quickly as possible. Note there could be other staggered start date options during the transition period.
Will the call centre positions be the same with Gatestone as they were with Quantum? For example, if I am a Senior Information Officer with Quantum, would I still be a Senior Information Officer at Gatestone?
Although our job titles may vary, you will be considered for the equivalent role at Gatestone.
How many Quantum employees are you planning to recruit?
As many as we can, as we understand that current Quantum employees are in fact the experts on the program. The first and main recruitment cohort is planned to start no later than November 27th, 2020. There could be other staggered start date options during the transition period and beyond.
Will I be able to continue to telework from Ottawa?
Yes, at least until June 2021 as a contract employee. This contract position could possibly be extended depending on the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic and approval to extend telework timelines from ESDC. Employees looking to relocate to either Toronto or Montreal either now or once telework approved timelines have expired, will be transitioned to permanent positions.
Additionally, there is certainly the possibility to transfer you to other departments where telework is a permanent possibility. This would of course depend on what positions are available within Gatestone’s network of departments at that time, but any and all efforts will be made to ensure it’s a smooth transition.
What do you mean by permanent positions? How is that managed? How does it work?
A permanent position differs from a contract position in that there is no end of employment date associated with the position. Adversely, a contract position has a contract end date. Additionally, within a contract position there are no medical or dental benefits associated to the position.
For clarity in this context, contracts will be issued to Quantum employees who are selected to onboard with Gatestone with a contract end date of June 2021 as we currently only have approval to work in a telework environment until that time. Contracts can be extended beyond that date should ESDC extend our telework timeline.
Will I be able to continue to telework for Gatestone indefinitely?
If and when approved telework timelines expire, there is certainly the possibility to transfer you to other service lines within Gatestone where telework is a permanent possibility. This would of course depend on what positions are available within Gatestone’s network of programs at that time, but any and all efforts will be made to ensure it’s a smooth transition. Transferring to a service line where telework is permanent would additionally mean that the contract position would transfer to a permanent position.
Will I get new equipment from Gatestone (i.e. laptop, mobile, headset)?
Yes, all equipment will be provided by Gatestone.
ESDC is working with Gatestone to organize an exchange of equipment. More details will follow.
What will the pay rates be?
Pay rates are competitive, but naturally depend on position, experience and language skill. All of our postings include the range for the position.

What are the employee benefits with Gatestone?
Medical and Dental benefits are available to permanent employees after 1 year of service.
How many days of sick leave and vacation do I get with Gatestone?
In Ontario, employees have the right to take up to six (6) days of unpaid job-protected leave per calendar year; three (3) for personal illness and three (3) for family responsibilities.
In Quebec, employees are entitled to two (2) paid days off each calendar year and up to ten (10) unpaid days for family obligations (defined in the Act respecting labour standards).
Additional unpaid days off can be requested, but would be approved based on schedule availability, capacity and service level demands.
Permanent employees are also eligible for vacation time. During the first 3 years of service, employees accrue the equivalent of 2 weeks’ vacation (4%). After 5 years of employment (3 years in Quebec), employees accrue the equivalent of 3 weeks’ vacation (6%) and after 10 years of service, employees accrue the equivalent of 4 weeks’ vacation (8%). Contract employees are not eligible for paid vacation time, but may request days of unpaid leave. Again, these would be approved based on schedule availability, capacity and service level demands.
If I take a job with Gatestone as a contractor, then become a permanent employee, will my time accumulated with Gatestone count towards the year of service to obtain the benefits? To obtain the sick leave and vacation?
Should you onboard with Gatestone as a contract employee, your time accumulated as such will count towards the accrual of your vacation time.
If I take on a permanent job with Gatestone, will my years of experience with Quantum count towards my seniority with Gatestone? My access to benefits? My salary?
As Gatestone and Quantum are separate companies, your tenure with Quantum would not transfer over to your employment with Gatestone.
In terms of salary, Gatestone offers competitive rates and your tenure and experience with Quantum will absolutely be considered when making employment offers.
Where are your offices located?
For the purposes of the 1800-O-Canada and CIS programs and supporting roles, our operations teams are located at 75 Port Royal East in Montreal, Quebec and at 180 Duncan Mill Road in Toronto, Ontario.
If I relocate to work from one of your offices, will you pay for my relocation?

If I miss Wave 1 of hiring, can I still apply later? When is the best time to apply?
Absolutely. Should you apply after November 8th, 2020 you will be considered for our 2nd wave of hiring, primarily at the beginning of 2021, but there could be other staggered start date options during the transition period and beyond. Keep in mind that Gatestone is always recruiting team members for a multitude of programs, but will continue to have hiring needs for the 1800-O-Canada and CIS programs even after the transition between Gatestone and Quantum has concluded.
